The plain-words read of this example
For 140 ft of 9 ft wall at 16 in on center, order 247 studs: 160 full-length, 26 jacks and 38 cripples, with 10 bottom plates and 20 top plates of 16 ft. The 12 openings need 2-ply 2x6 to 2-ply 1-3/4 x 11-7/8 in LVL headers, sized for roof and ceiling only; check a floor or snow load above against IRC Table R602.7(1). P1 is over 6 ft wide, where sawn headers run out: get an LVL or the engineer's size. The bottom plate sits on concrete, so it has to be pressure-treated. Before inspection, check bracing and hold-downs against the plans and IRC R602.10.
